Notifiable Diseases
Policy
We report all notifiable diseases to the local Medical Officer of Health in accordance with the:
Follow the reporting process in HealthPathways: Notifiable Diseases.
We implement procedures to prevent cross infection when there is a notifiable disease at the practice. We may:
- request more information about the disease/condition and how to minimise infection from experts e.g. microbiologists, laboratory staff, PHO/Te Whatu Ora staff or response teams, and the MoH
- provide staff with any additional guidelines, policies, or procedures recommended by experts
- obtain additional protective equipment as necessary
- have the infection control lead instruct staff on special requirements
- place an alert on the patient's notes to make staff aware.
