Health and Safety Training and Induction

Policy

We promote a safe environment by ensuring that health and safety training and induction is provided to new staff, and provided to others involved with our practice as appropriate.

Worker induction and training

Induction

We support workers to be familiar of the practice's health and safety policies, and to understand their responsibilities for health and safety under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2020. All staff are encouraged to contribute to a culture of ongoing health and safety improvement.

New staff receive a health and safety induction that contains information about:

Training

Staff are supported to ensure they remain capable of meeting their health and safety responsibilities.

We provide role-specific training and clarify responsibilities as needed. We carry out emergency drills regularly, and remind staff of their responsibilities during emergency procedures.

Contractors receive a basic health and safety induction before starting work at our facility, including:

Other people visiting our facility

We have a duty to ensure that, so far as reasonably practicable, the health and safety of other people visiting our facility (including patients, whānau, and the public) is not put at risk.
